A London street scene. A bailiff holding out a writ taps on the shoulder a fashionably dressed young man, they are standing in the cobbled roadway. Behind them stands an empty gig, the pawing horse looking inquiringly at the encounter. The groom has left the gig to stand closer and watch the ensuing parley.
