Half length portrait of Jean Baptiste Barbe. He was apprenticed to Philippe Galle in 1595, before going to Rome to study in 1610. The engraver of this portrait, Bolswert, was an extremely prolific Nuremburg artist, renowned (as is the case with this portrait) for using only the burin for his work, with no drypoint at all.
