A fine full length portrait by the dutch engraver Christopher Sichem (pupil of Goltzius) of Ernst, Archduke of Austria (1553 – 1595). He was appointed Governor of the Netherlands by King Phillip II of Spain in 1594.
He stands in full armour, helmet and shield on the ground below him. In the background is a view of a city by the sea.
