A half length portrait, enclosed in an roundel of the Protestant religious reformer Heinrich Bullinger (1504-76). He has a flowing, square cut, grey beard, scholar’s robes and flat cap. Born in the Swiss town of Bremgarten, he soon began to study the teachings of Martin Luther, and was responsible for bringing the Reformation to Switzerland.
