A half length portrait of a haughty, young, French nobleman. He is very richly but almost puritanically dressed in a black doublet, scarf and velvet trimmed cloak, and rests his right hand on his sword hilt. Blooteling (1634-c.98), was born in Amsterdam and was probably a pupil of Visscher. In 1672 he came to England, but despite the encouragement of the King, he did not stay long, returning to Holland.
Marquis de Mirabelle.
