A half length, seated portrait of the Welsh romantic novelist Mrs EmmaParker (fl. 1811-20). She is middle-aged, looks to the left and wears a
dark, high necked, high waisted dress with lace ruff, a string of beads, lace cap and open jacket. She lived at Fairfield House, Denbighshire and
among others her best known works were Elfrida; or the Heiress of Belgrove and Important Trifles, chiefly appropriate to Females on their entrance into Society.
