A curious caricature. A winged John Bull is being levered off the top of a cliff by a small devil. John leans forward arms outstretched towards another flying human, who is flying towards him holding out a torch, the lght shining towards John Bull. Just above the horizon over the sea is a seated reddish Lion, in place of the setting sun. Below John Bull is a man in the clouds holding his arms up, as if to catch John if he falls
