Three soldiers are holding a pair of ladders that make an A, as in a step ladder. At the top of the ladder is Napoleon, who holds on with his left, and holds up his right hand showing his five fingers. His nose is extremely long, and he is wearing oversized spectacles. On the two sides of the ladder is inscribed La Belle Alliance. On the right is a messenger who has brought papers, some inscribed ; Napoleon Kaiser Protector and Proclam von Lacken. Below the ladder to the left, two officers are examining a map inscribed Holland .A dog is defecating on it. Below the title are two columns of verse, starting ; Halt’fest, halt fest und wackle nicht and ending Ist Holland dir, Napoleon, Spruckwortlich nur beschiden !
