A large and rare print on the subject of the Expulsion of the Jesuits from Spain and its colonies by Charles III.
The reasons for the expulsion are clouded in mystery, Charles II said that he ‘was moved by weighty reasons, conscious of his duty to uphold obedience, tranquility and justice amongst his people, and for other urgent, just, and compelling causes, which he was locking away in his Royal breast’
