The Comique Roman Ragotin startles an onlooking crowd, as he rides towards with his rifle, pointing to the rear, between his right leg and his horse. Two carriages of well-dressed people have just arrived at the scene and are alighting and looking on with startled expressions. On the left another group of figures are looking on from the entrance to an Inn, gesticulating and peering at the spectacle. In the foreground on the left, a group  seated and drinking look up. On the right a boy with his mule also stand looking at Ragotin.
