A charming full length portrait of the daughter of Henry Pelham Clinton, Earl of Lincoln and granddaughter of the Duke of Newcastle. Lady Catherine (1776-1804), is depicted as a child, scattering corn for a group of hens and their chicks, against an arcadian landscape. She wears a miniature shepherdesses’ costume and an elaborate lace cap. In 1800 she married William Lord Folkstone, but sadly she died at Paddington in childbirth, only four years later.
