In a contemporary ink script below the main title ‘afterwards, Lady Eardley’. A half length portrait set in an oval of Maria – Marrow, born 1743, the eldest daughter of Chief Justice Sir John Eardley Wilmot. She married Sir Sampson Gideon, Bart. of Spalding , who assumed the name and was created Baron Eardley in the peerage of Ireland in 1789. She died on 1st March 1794. Her eldest daughter married Lord Saye and Sele.
