The idle servant sits in the parlour, her head resting on her hand, as if about to drop; off to sllep.. Below her are pots and pans scattered over the floor. Above her head a cat is eating fowl from a plate. By the side of her stands another sevant looking towards the viewer, with a resigned expression and her hand outstretched, she shows us the idle girl.
To her right, up a half flight of stairs, through a doorway a group of people are sitting at a table
