A fine, strong impression. Lady Rochford sits, three quarter length, dressed her peeress’s velvet and ermine trimmed robes, holding her coronet in her lap. She has deeply ruffled lace sleeves and her hair dressed simply. In the background is a pillar and view of a park. Daughter and heiress of Richard Savage 4th Earl Rivers, she married firstly Frederick 3rd Earl of Rochford who died in 1738, and secondly (and without the approval of her family) the Rev. Mr Carter.
