Lyndhurst, in Chancellor’s wig and gown, stands between Wellington and Brougham, who face each other in profile. He looks at the former, pointing to the latter, saying; My honourable & learned Friendwishes to Enroll himself among Your Grace’s political Friends. Brougham, in wig and gown, takes a step forward, and points to himself, proffering his services. The Duke stands impassively beside his writing table, from which he has just risen.
