The skinny, sharp featured figure of Dr John Eveleigh (1748-1814) Provost of Oriel, stands in profile to the right, wearing academic robes (which he anxiously clutches to him at the front), bob wig and mortar board. Bampton Lecturer from 1792 and an active University reformer, he did much to raise the academic reputation of the college. BM 11070.
