The tall, bulky figure of the George James 1st Marquess of Cholmondeley (1749-1827), walks to the right, wearing a low crowned hat over his long shaggy hair, wrinkled cutaway coat strained over his paunch, striped, wrinkled breeches, and baggy, spurred top boots. He carries his gloves in one hand and a bowed cane in the other. Cholmondeley was noted for his height, strength and sloppiness of dress. BM 9756.
