Two fashionable ladies are seated at a modest looking dining table which is sparsely laid. A butler in full livery stands before the table, one hand in his coat pocket, the other holding an earthenwear jug. His head is turned to face the lady on the left who is holding a half filled glass in her hand and saying; This is an excellent Tap of small Beer, I wish the Servants to be saving of it, but how will you manage that John – John replies; Why my Lady I don’t know a better method than by placing a good Barrel of Ale by the side of it.
