Matthew Darly
George’s delight or neck or nothing
London, M. Darly The Strand Apr 1st. 1774
Etching
175 x 250 mm
£160
Two men ride in profile to the right. The one in front is fashionably dressed with a cockaded hat, in his left hand is a cane. The forelegs of the horse are raised as if galloping, but both hind legs are on the ground. The man behind, who is partly cut off by the margin, wears a round cap and is perhaps the servant of the other. His horse appears to be walking. A wall, above which are trees, is indicated behind the riders.
