(Members of the Coalition Ministry of 1782)
London, C Bretherton 17th. June 1782
Etching
180 x 110 mm
£85
Sir Francis Molyneux, tall and broad, stands, hands behind his back, looking down at Robert Quarme, a very small man. Both wear bag-wigs, ruffles and swords. Molyneux was Gentleman Usher of the Black Rod, and Quarme was Yeoman Usher, both officers of the House of Lords.
From a series of small, whole length caricature portraits of prominent members of the Whig Coalition and opponents of the American War. The inspiration was apparently the ministerial changes of March 1782.
