An unshaven man, wearing only nightcap, shirt, breeches, and slippers, stands by the fireside grimacing with disgust, a medicine-bottle in one hand, full cup in the other. A dying fire, bare boards, and medicine-bottles on the chimney-piece add to the impression of discomfort.

One of a set, all with the same imprint. All are studies in facial expression, and all appear in Humphrey’s shop-window in BM11100
