A delicately engraved scene from Hamlet Act 4, showing the madness of Ophelia. In the centre a bare breated, wild haired Ophelia scatters rue and violets on the steps of the throne. On the left is Gertrude and a weeping Hamlet stands on the right. Caroline Watson (1761-1814), was the daughter and pupil of the eminent mezzotint engraver James Watson.
