The sitter is Anne Charlotte Gauthier de Loiserolle Aved, wife of painter to the French King, Jacques Andre Joseph Aved. Aved exhibited at the Salon between 1737 and 1759. Louis XV sat for him in the early 1750s and he was thereafter made painter to the King.
