Description
Half-length potrait of Philips Wouwerman, the famous and prolific Flemish genre and landscape painter. Born in Haarlem, the son of a provincial artist, he spent some time in Hamburg before returning to Haarlem when he is known to have executed at least five hundred works (many more are attributed to him). This impression is printed on a thick wove paper and presumably dates from around 1800.
