A fine, full length portrait of Captain Robert Manners. The title continues; Captain of His Majesty’s Ship the Resolution April 12th 1782
He stands fascing to the front and looking towards his left, in uniform, right hand on an anchor to his left, his left hand on his hip. There are large ships in the distance to the right.
He was the Third son of John, Marquis of Granby, born 1758.
He entered the navy and was mortally wounded in the engagement under Rodney with the French fleet, under De Grasse, in the West Indies on 12th. April 1782.
