A rare caricature, number 6 from an unidentified series. An ugly printseller kneels, hand outstretched and addresses a similarly ugly woman who stands before him; He says; Thou proof Print of unsullied Beauty, – lovely transparency of un-blemished charms, behold a Print Seller at your feet, who does not wish to Varnish over his passion with the opake mixture of fulsome flattery, but one who would be happy totake you off plain or colour’d – through Press or Backwards & forwards, – to the Manufactory of Hymen- the first Impression from such a Plate would vie with Titian’s Venus.
