An able and zealous Reformer of the Church, was born at Wildishausen, in the Country of Tecklenburg, in 1487. He was killed October 11th ,1531, in a civil war which broke out in Switzerland between the five Catholic Cantons and those of Zurich an Berne. His Works consist of Commentaries on various Books of the Old and New Testament, and of Controversial Tracts. The greater part of these were written in German, but they were afterwards translated into Latin, and printed at Basil in 1544, at Zurich in 1581, and at Basil again in1592.
